The Centre is an independent educational charity with a national and international reputation as a Centre of Excellence. It serves the needs of secondary and FE teachers and students of English and Media Studies in the UK through:

Where are we? |
||
|
The Centre is based in a 4 storey Georgian house two-minutes walk from Highbury and Islington Station (Victoria Line underground, and North London Line overground). Buses 4,19 30 and 43 stop outside the Centre. |

Visiting the Centre |
||
|
The Centre is open school terms, Monday-Friday 9am to 5pm and on the first Monday of the Autumn and Spring half-term holidays. You are very welcome to visit us to browse and purchase publications but please ring first. |

Lettings |

|
Our Coffee and Seminar rooms are available for hiring on a daily basis. Facilities include: TV, VCR, DVD, OHP, Data projector and interactive whiteboard. Costs:

In addition to the one and two day professional development courses run at the Centre, we work with departments, schools and LEAs on longer term projects. Recent off-site projects have included: cross-curricular literacy, creativity, improving writing, media. Contact Kate to discuss the ways in which we might work with your department, school or LEA. |

The Centre was commissioned by the DfES to produce a consultant´s training pack and video on media education in the Framework for Teaching English and to run the national training programme which accompanied the publication of this support material. |

Media Relate |

|
This book and DVD on Representations of Relationships in the Media was produced by the Centre as part of a joint EU funded project with The Institute of Education and partners in Spain and the Netherlands. |
||
|
Working with government and other agencies English and Media Centre are regular contributors to QCA working parties and discussion, most recently on the proposed changes to the 14-19 curriculum and English 21. |
