MediaMagazine Production Competition 2022! Anything Goes!

This year, at long last, we are (nearly) unlocked and able to resume our normal service with a live event! Many of you will have had a couple of horribly difficult years ¬–¬ so our legendary Production Competition is all about shaking off the cobwebs and celebrating your creativity IRL at out showcase event at the BFI!

Competition 2022

  • There is no theme – anything goes! The door is wide open – it’s your chance to be as creative, original, personal, critical or entertaining as you like.
  • Entries must be no longer than 4 minutes.
  • Your entry could be any of the following:
  • A video diary, digital essay, reportage; a documentary or narrative short film; a music video; animation; a spoken word poem or audio-visual montage with sound and still or video images – in fact any moving image format or genre which allows you to communicate your ideas, experiences, or learning in a creative way.
  • There are no rules!  You can use anything and everything to tell your story – animation, live action, Lego, Barbies, other toys, household objects, people, photographs, animals - any resources you can find which will help you tell your own story. Make the most of the chance to produce without restrictions - nothing is out of bounds!
  • You can submit work as an individual, a pair or a small group – but remember to indicate the role you took in the production.
  • As always, a celebrity judge will select the most inspirational videos to be shown at out showcase event at the BFI on Monday 6th July. All shortlisted entrants will receive certificates and the winning entries will go online on the MediaMag website.

  • Deadline for your entries: Friday 22nd April
  • Announcement of shortlist online: Friday 20th May
  • Showcase event and winners announced: Wednesday 6th July
