Challenging Your High Attainers: A Level English Language

Why should you attend?

Are your high attaining students getting as much as they could from their English Language A Level study? Are they likely to achieve top grades and, as importantly, are they being fully engaged and challenged? This course will give you the chance to explore ways of giving more to such students and expecting more of them. It will include a mixture of input and discussion, and a chance to try out strategies and discuss specific resources. You will go away with practical ideas and ways of re-inflecting your thinking and teaching approaches. This course is suitable for those teaching any of the A Level specifications for English Language.

What will the course cover?

  • Identifying the mixture of ‘bigger picture’, conceptual overview and focused analysis that’s needed at the higher ends of the mark schemes.
  • How to direct your high attaining students to the most relevant and useful linguistic ideas and approaches.
  • Resources that will stretch and challenge students in different parts of the course.
  • Ideas for encouraging independent study, ambitious NEA projects and wider reading.

Hugely useful with none of the ‘woolliness’ sometimes found on CPD courses!
