Child Language Development

Why should you attend?

This course focuses primarily on the Child Language Development topic of the new AQA English Language A Level, but will also include material relevant for other A Level English Language specifications. We will be focusing on the latest research into children’s linguistic development, how to engage students with child language data and ways to approach the big debates in the field. We will also discuss ways to develop and maintain your subject knowledge.

What will the course cover?

  • The most recent thinking in the field, with Dr Amy Bidgood, of the University of Liverpool’s ‘Language 0-5’ project.
  • Sourcing texts and data, adapting material and developing resources for the course, including some hands-on use of child language corpora.
  • Children’s multi-modal literacy development.
  • Ideas for introductory lessons and student projects to suit your students’ interests.

NB. This will draw on a similar course held in Summer 2016.

Brilliant delivery and resources and ideas for lessons and tasks.
