Fast-track to Media Theory

Why should you attend?

Are you struggling to get your head around the set media theories your A Level Media students need to know for their exams? Are you finding it difficult to plan engaging lessons that help students truly understand the theories? Or are you an English teacher new to Media Studies, with no time to ‘cram’ the reading? This one-day fast-track ‘crash course’ will provide a basic theoretical toolkit for A Level Media teaching in a friendly and supportive context, as well as exemplar teaching activities and case studies to help pitch the theories to a suitable level.

What will the course cover?

  • A route through the theories required to teach A level Media Studies (AQA, EDUQAS and OCR) and active ways of bringing them to life in the classroom.
  • Ways of applying the theories to a range of texts and formats.
  • The more complex and recent debates around social media, fake news and postmodern identity.
  • Reading, resources, case studies, links and classroom activities to help you to make the ideas accessible for your students.

NB. This is a repeat course.

Just brilliant throughout, particularly for a media novice like me.
