Finalist BETT 2014

Using authentic video material, images and blogs from the Catlin Arctic Survey as a stimulus, Arctic Adventure provides an engaging context for a range of exciting creative writing and speaking and listening activities. Activities include:

  • creative reading and writing tasks – winning a place on the team, a survival diet Masterchef-style, a final email
  • letter writing, blogging, scripting a video report
  • role-playing a radio interview
  • dilemmas and emergency scenarios to provoke discussion and debate
  • a final presentation.

Important information about using a Video PDF

PDFs with embedded video clips are large files (up to 350MB) and could take some time to download.
Video PDFs must be opened in Adobe Reader 9 or above. Download this free program here.
More info about how to use Video PDFs.

To play video clips embedded in PDFs, you need Flash installed and Adobe Reader 9 or above.

If after installing both programs and opening the file in Adobe Reader 9 or above, you continue to get an error message saying ‘Flash Player is not installed’, follow the instructions in this document

Alternatively, download the zipped folder of .flv files and play them using vlc media player. (If you are using Windows 10 or above, this seems to be the best solution.)
